Brimming with history, art, fashion and culture, it’s easy to understand why the City of Light is also known as the City of Love. However, Paris, much like love, can’t please everyone all the time. Love gets busy, love gets dirty and love is of course full of interchangeable tourists… OK maybe the last one is more just Paris, but you get the gist. Luckily at BUCKiTDREAM we’re here to help guide you through some of the most romantic spots in the city, not just for those of you who are in relationships, but for those of you who head to Paris solo or with friends maybe hoping to meet someone while you’re there.

Find Love Surrounded By Messages of Love

The Pont des Arts is the iconic bridge of love; you’ve seen photos of it, it’s the one that was covered in locks that have couples’ names symbolizing their love. The problem is, there was too much love and the sheer weight of the locks on the bridge began to make it buckle. The authorities replaced the chain (lock accessible) fencing with glass to finally break the habit. This only led to more people covering additional bridges across the Seine, essentially turning the bridges into a massive marriage of metal love.

Paris and more importantly the bridges can’t take the pressure forever, so gradually all of these locks will be removed and replaced by glass panel bridges. This won’t happen for the next few years, though, so don’t despair; the City of Love obviously has you covered with an alternative. You just need to head to the Wall of Love in Jehan Rictus Garden Square in Montmartre, where you’ll find messages of love in every language in a romantic setting.

Sigh On the Seine

It’s almost as rich in history as it is in beauty, but a casual walk on the banks of the Seine during either daytime or in the evening is an absolute must for loved-up couples in Paris. You can walk the more trodden path from the Pont des Arts and past the Louvre, meandering across the bridges and the glorious Notre Dame as you walk towards Île Saint-Louis. There are plenty of places to perch with a picnic basket and a bottle of vin rouge to cap the perfect stroll.

If you’re the type that believes in legends then kissing under the Pont Marie Bridge is a must. It is said that lovers who kiss under this bridge will have any wish granted; unfortunately, you have to wish for the same thing in sync for it to come true, so make sure you’re both on the same page!

If you’d rather be in the Seine than strolling alongside it, you can’t go wrong with one of the huge array of romantic river cruises available.

It’s a great way to take in some of the city’s best sights and there are delicious dinner cruises available for that perfect romantic moment.

Ensure Everyone Knows You’re in Paris, and in Love, At the Eiffel Tower

Funny fact about the Eiffel tower: when the gigantic structure was built for the 1889 World’s Fair, the French found it repugnant and could not wait for it to be taken down. However, the rest of the world disagreed and it’s now arguably (definitely) the city’s most iconic landmark and a symbol of love (just don’t say that to the French though).

Whether you choose to lounge in the Champ de Mars or ascend the tower to its 1000-ft peak, we’d definitely recommend that you go at night so you can make the most of the hourly light show, which is truly wonderful. Grab a bottle of wine before you head down if you’re going to be drinking, though – there are a few guys that will offer to sell you bottles and souvenirs at the same time, and they offer the rarest of all French things: incredibly bad wine. Nothing ruins a romantic moment quite like sour grapes.

Fall in Love With Food, or Over the Food

Whether you’re looking for café culture, a local bakery (boulangerie) or a Michelin-starred dining experience, Paris has it all – a city capable of suiting any budget or palate.

Find a hidden alleyway for a Lady and the Tramp-inspired romantic meal on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine or devour some delicious oysters over a glass of Champagne at Le Bar à Huîtres in Rue Dante. However, if you can’t make it there, the city has too many amazing oyster bars to list here, so it’s hard to go wrong.

If a casual coffee or aperitif takes your fancy, head to Café de Flore where you can snuggle up with a loved one, take in a little French culture and create your own love story while you sit in the same seats as some of the finest minds in the history of literature, right where they wrote immortal tales of love.

Of course, we’d recommend at least one night splashing out on one of Paris’s hundreds of Michelin-starred restaurants, which range from 1 – 3 stars. They will leave your wallet empty but your memory full for years to come.

To give your budget a break, if the weather in Paris is kind, and it occasionally is, you can forgo the restaurant experience all together, pick up a basket, stuff it full of French delicacies and picnic at one of the city’s impossibly numeral beautiful spots. If you had to press us we’d pick one of the following for the perfect picnic spot: Canal Saint-Martin, Champ de Mars, Luxembourg Gardens or Place des Vosges.

The Most Romantic Spot in Paris? Montmartre

The climb is tedious yet whimsical and once you reach the top and are at the foot of the Sacré-Coeur church you’ll be spoilt with the most romantic view of Paris unfurling below you.

Visiting Montmartre is like visiting the Paris of a bygone era. Cute cafés, bars and restaurants share the streets with galleries, street artist and amazing views. It’s an area perfect for strolling or cozying up in and the general vibe, from the architecture to the atmosphere, is romantic to its core.
